Recon 4 Sleeping Bag | Rated to 14 Degrees F

Purchased for my daughter. She is career Army medical and wanted a good bag. So far she’s used it on one exercise and loved it.

Looks to be well made and quality. Haven’t had a chance to fully test out in the wild but zippers look good as well as stitching and compression sack quality. No regrets on the purchase at all.

Took it to Pueblo CO for 72hr survival training. I was warm and cozy during a snow storm. , and it didn't weigh my ruck down. Great product.

These bags are well designed and are of decent quality. However there could be a few improvements that would really make these bags exceptional. The “zipper tape” (the strip of fabric sewn on the main baffle to prevent the zipper snagging on the baffle), frays easily and is too narrow to prevent snags. A dense weave nylon material, such as utilized on the US Mss sleep system, would eliminate this problem. The zippers are good quality and are a wind resistant, as well as quick opening to get out readily in an emergency. However they are a bit small and the zipper pulls are difficult to grab w/ gloves on. The replacement of these zippers with slightly bigger ones of the same type and configuration would help. The bags are warm, albeit the temps might be a little off what is stated, but only by about 5deg or so. I think a horseshoe shaped neck baffle, placed 1/4 to 1/2 in below the face hole would help to prevent heat loss and boost warmth. The bags are plenty waterproof and durable on the bottom and the inside foot box( a Brilliant idea!). But the top of the bag, (although high quality ripstop nylon, could benefit from a material change to silnylon for additional waterproofness. Finally the addition of arm holes, to sip a cup of coffee while staying in the sleeping bag would be nice. All in all these are well thought out sleeping bags and are similar to the Polish co Carinthia.
