It’s super adjustable and comfortable and doesn’t broadcast ‘He is carrying!’ … Perfect for hiking or mountain biking, 100% happy with this purchase!
Pack seems well built. I wore it, with my pistol in it, while sawing brush for a few hours. Very comfortable. The ‘rip cord’ system works well. I can draw my pistol faster from this chest pack than from a hip holster.
I have worn the chest rig enough on urban hikes and bike rides to provide a review… I own several different brands of chest rigs, to include Hill People Gear and FHF Gear. The TrailGuard chest rig is the best match for those uses.
Description
A chest holster nobody can see. The TrailGuard carries your handgun where a chest rig does, high and centered, so you can reach it on the bike, in the tree stand, or under a hip-belt pack. From the outside it looks like a binocular harness, so nothing about it signals that you're armed.
Your handgun rides in a dedicated rear compartment, separated from your phone, wallet, and gear. The compartment is loop-lined, and the included adjustable holster attaches to it with hook-and-loop, so it covers the trigger completely and locks your firearm in place, in the same position every time you reach for it. It fits pistols with red-dot optics, so there's nothing extra to buy. Quick pull tabs open the compartment in one motion. Want a holster molded to your exact handgun? Upgrade to a Kydex Pack Holster on this page for an additional cost.
The front compartment carries the rest: two divided pouches, four elastic mag loops, and room for your wallet and phone. Thin straps and a padded mesh back panel keep it cool and low-profile enough to wear under a pack.

FAQ
Can I run with the TrailGuard?
Yes. The harness uses thin straps and a padded mesh back panel, which keeps bounce down and airflow up. It sits high on the chest, so it doesn't shift into your stride the way a belt holster or fanny pack does. The included hook-and-loop holster matters more here than anywhere else: it locks to the loop-lined compartment, so the firearm doesn't move while you're moving. Cinch the straps snug before you head out. Loose straps are what cause bounce, not the pack itself.
Will it fit my handgun?
Almost certainly. Compact and subcompact pistols fit easily, including ones with a red dot. Full-size guns fit too: customers carry a Sig P226 and a full-size 1911 in it. A full-size gun makes for a snug close, so if you carry one, expect a tighter fit.
Not sure about yours? Try it at home with your own gun. Returns are free within 30 days, and return shipping is on us for U.S. orders.
Does it come with a holster?
Yes. It ships with an adjustable hook-and-loop holster that fits most handguns, covers the trigger completely, and locks into the loop-lined compartment, so it is ready to carry out of the box.
If you want a holster molded to your exact handgun, you can add a Kydex Velcro® Holster on this page for an additional cost. It is made to order for your handgun, weapon light and draw hand, every model is optic ready, and it ships separately, typically within 5 to 7 business days.
Can I wear it under a backpack?
Yes, that's part of why the harness is built the way it is. The straps are thin enough to sit under pack straps without stacking up or creating pressure points, and the low-profile front doesn't push out far enough to interfere with a sternum strap. Route the TrailGuard straps under your backpack straps, not over, so you can shed the backpack without disturbing the chest pouch.
